Grammicon User Guide: Master Semantic Emoji Search & Font Styles
Unlock the full potential of Grammicon! Learn how to find any emoji by meaning and create eye-catching Unicode text styles for your social media posts.
Welcome to Grammicon! This guide will walk you through the powerful features of our two main tools: the Emoji Search and the Fonticon Text Converter.
The Emoji Tool
The Emoji Tool is your all-in-one solution for everything emoji.
Finding Emojis
You have two primary ways to find the emojis you’re looking for:
1. Semantic Search
The search bar at the top of the page is more than just a simple text search. It allows you to search by meaning in any language.
- Relevance Sorting: Emojis are displayed in a grid in descending order of relevance to your search query. A relevance percentage is shown at the top right of each card.
- Click to Copy: You can copy an emoji to your clipboard by simply clicking on it. At the same time, the emoji is inserted into the editor at the bottom of the page.
- How to use: Simply start typing a word or phrase that describes the emoji you want (e.g., “happy face with glasses”, “running”, “celebration”). The grid will instantly update with the most relevant results.
- Clearing Search: To go back to browsing, just clear the text from the search bar.
2. Filtering by Group and Subgroup
If you prefer to browse, you can use the dropdown filters:
- Select Group: Start by choosing a broad category like “Smileys & Emotion”, “Animals & Nature”, or “Activities”.
- Select Subgroup (Optional): Once a group is selected, you can further narrow down your results by picking a subgroup, such as “face-smiling” or “animal-mammal”.
To see all emojis in a group, leave the subgroup as ”— All Subgroups —“.
💡 Tip: You can reset all filters and your search query at any time by clicking the Reset (❌) button.
[!NOTE] Compatibility Note: Older operating systems, such as Windows 10, may not support the full set of emojis. Instead of the emoji, you might see a placeholder character (e.g., a box or a question mark). This is a limitation of the operating system, not the app.
Using and Sharing Your Emojis
- Click to Copy & Collect: Clicking on any emoji card copies it to your clipboard and adds it to the Editor at the bottom of the page.
- The Editor: This is a collection tray for all your selected emojis. It’s a fully editable text field, so you can type, rearrange, and build your perfect message.
- Sharing: Use the Share button next to the editor to copy your message or share it via your device’s native sharing options.
Creating Shareable Links
Want to share a specific search result with a friend? Just perform your search or apply your filters, then copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. It will contain all the necessary information.
For example, here is a link that searches for “snowman”:
The Fonticon Tool
The Fonticon Tool transforms your text into a variety of eye-catching Unicode styles, perfect for making your posts on X, Instagram, and other social media platforms stand out.
How It Works
- Select a Style (Variant): Choose a font style from the “variant” list. Options include
bold,italic,script,fraktur,double-struck,sans-serif, and more. - Add Diacritics (Optional): Select one or more diacritics (like
underline, strikethrough, or various accents) to apply to your characters. - Type Your Text: As you type in the input box, you will see the live conversion in the output box on the right.
- Copy & Share: Use the copy or share buttons below the output box to use your newly styled text.
Your selections and text are automatically saved in your browser, so your favorite styles will be ready for your next visit.
Creating Shareable Links
You can also share pre-styled text by sending a link. The URL automatically updates as you type and select styles, but you can also construct one manually.
For example: here is a link that styles the text “Hello World” in the circled variant with an underline:
Important:
- Style variants work primarily for English / Latin text, while diacritics can often work for other languages as well.
- Not all combinations of Styles and Diacritics work perfectly together; feel free to experiment to find the best look!
Customizing Your Theme
Grammicon allows you to personalize the look and feel of the application. In the top-right corner of the header, you’ll find the theme controls.
- Theme Palette (🎨): Click the palette icon to open the color customizer. Here you can adjust the app’s primary, secondary, and accent colors to your liking. Your custom palette is saved automatically.
